CrunchCalcs
Privacy Policy
A plain-language account of what CrunchCalcs keeps, what syncs, and what you control.
The short version. You can use every calculator without an account, and without a connection. In that mode your figures stay on your device. If you choose to sign in with Google, your saved calculations — including the figures you entered — are backed up to your account so they can be restored on your other devices. The free edition shows advertising, and we record a small number of anonymous usage events that never contain your calculator inputs or results.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how [DEVELOPER NAME] (“we”, “us”) handles information in the CrunchCalcs mobile application (the “app”). It does not cover third-party websites or services you may reach from the app.
2. Using the app without an account
CrunchCalcs works fully offline and does not require an account. When you use it as a Guest, the following are stored only on your device and are not transmitted to us:
- Calculator inputs, results and recent calculation snapshots
- Saved calculations and favourites
- Preferences — currency symbol, number format, region, theme, text size and default assumptions
Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes this local information. We cannot recover it, because we never receive it.
The one exception is feedback you explicitly choose to send us — see section 5.
3. If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional and exists so your saved work can be backed up and restored on another device. Signing in creates a separate account profile; your Guest data is not merged into it unless you explicitly choose to import it.
What we receive when you sign in
Authentication is handled by Google and Firebase Authentication. We receive a durable account identifier, and your name and email address as supplied by Google. We never receive your Google password.
What is synced to your account
The following is stored under your account identifier in Google Cloud Firestore:
| Category | Fields stored |
|---|---|
| Saved calculations | Calculator type, the name you gave it, the input values you entered, the headline result, and the time it was updated |
| Recent calculations | Calculator type, when it was opened, and a snapshot of your most recent inputs and headline result so the calculation can be resumed |
| Favourites | Calculator type and when it was added |
| Preferences | Currency symbol, number grouping and separator, decimal places, region, chosen focus, default inflation/return/savings assumptions, haptics, keep-screen-on and terminology |
Please note. Saved and recent calculations include the figures you typed into the calculator — for example a loan amount, a salary, or a portfolio value. If you would rather those figures never leave your device, use the app without signing in.
4. Advertising and measurement
Advertising
The free edition of the app may show advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Where required by law, you will be asked for your choices through Google’s consent flow before advertising is requested, and you can revisit those choices at any time from the app’s Settings. Google may process device and advertising identifiers in accordance with your choices and its own policies. Purchasing the Pro edition removes advertising.
Usage analytics
We record a small set of anonymous product events through Google Analytics for Firebase to understand which features are used. These events are limited to identifiers such as which calculator was opened or computed, that an advertisement was shown, that the Pro screen was viewed, and account actions such as sign-out, import or deletion.
These events never include your calculator inputs, your results, your saved calculation names, your notes, or your email address.
Configuration
The app may fetch non-personal configuration values (such as advertising frequency limits) from Firebase Remote Config.
5. Feedback you choose to send
If you deliberately submit feedback, a rating or an issue report, we receive what you submitted — the rating or message, the calculator you were using, the app version and your locale, and a reply email address only if you chose to provide one. If you were signed in, your account identifier is attached so we can reply in context; a Guest submission carries no account identifier. Feedback is never collected silently or in the background.
6. Purchases
The one-time Pro purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We record only whether the Pro entitlement is active on the device.
7. Legal bases for processing (UK/EU users)
- Contract — to provide the app’s features, including backing up and restoring your saved calculations when you sign in.
- Consent — for personalised advertising and related identifiers, where you have given it, and for feedback you choose to submit. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the app secure and reliable and to understand aggregate feature usage, balanced against your privacy.
8. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers that operate the app’s infrastructure on our behalf:
- Google — Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics for Firebase, Remote Config, AdMob and Google Play Billing. Google’s handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
9. International transfers
Where you sign in, your synced data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure and may be processed in countries other than your own. Those transfers rely on the safeguards Google provides, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
10. How long we keep information
Synced data is kept for as long as your account profile exists. When you delete your account data from within the app, the corresponding records are removed. Feedback and anonymous usage events may be retained for a reasonable period for support and product-quality purposes. Local Guest data lives on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app.
11. Your rights and controls
Inside the app you can, at any time:
- Clear your recent calculations and delete individual saved calculations
- Reset your preferences
- Review your advertising privacy choices in Settings, where applicable
- Sign out, which returns you to your local Guest profile
- Delete your account data from the Profile screen — see our account deletion page for the full instructions and what is removed
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, a copy of, or erasure of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL]. Users in California may additionally have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.
12. Children
CrunchCalcs is a general-audience financial utility. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
Data in transit is protected using industry-standard encryption, and synced data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure with access rules restricting each account’s data to that account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and where the change is significant we will make it apparent in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
