WordHoard — Privacy Policy

The short version

There is no account, and no sign-in of any kind.
We have no server. Nothing you read, save or write is sent to us, and we cannot see any of it.
We collect nothing. No analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking.
The app shows ads, supplied by Google. That is the one part of the app that sends anything off your phone.

What stays on your phone

The words you save, the notes you write, the lists you make, your review history, your streaks and your settings all stay on your phone. There is no upload and no sync. We never receive any of it, because there is nowhere for it to go.

The app never asks for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files.

WordHoard is free and is paid for by advertising. Ads are supplied by Google AdMob, which is a separate company and responsible for the data it collects.

To choose which ads to show you, Google may collect your advertising ID, your IP address, details about your device, a rough idea of your location based on that IP address, and which ads you interact with. We never receive any of this. It goes to Google, and we see only anonymous earnings totals.

What Google does with it is covered by Google's privacy policy, not by this one.

You have three ways to control it:

Consent. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked before any ad is loaded, and nothing is requested until you answer. You can change that answer at any time in the app's settings.
Your advertising ID can be reset or deleted at any time in Android's own settings, under Privacy and then Ads.
You can switch ads off for 24 hours by watching one rewarded video, as often as you like.

The few things that leave your phone

All of these happen only when you ask for them:

Reading a word aloud. Your phone's own text-to-speech voice says it. If you have chosen a voice that works over the internet, the word being read is sent to that voice's service to make the audio. Only the word is ever sent. Your notes are never read aloud and never sent.
Sharing a card. The image and the word go to whichever app you pick from the share sheet. What happens next is up to that app.
Exporting your saved words and notes. They are written to a file, in a place you choose. Nothing is uploaded.
Rating the app. The prompt that asks whether you are enjoying WordHoard is the app's own, and dismissing it sends nothing. If you choose to rate, you are handed over to Google Play, and your review belongs to Google Play from there.

Children

WordHoard is not made for children and is not intended for anyone under 13. It never asks for a name, an age, an email address, or anything else that identifies you.

Your rights

We hold nothing about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete. Everything the app knows is on your phone.

To erase it all, uninstall the app, or clear its data in Android's settings under Apps.
For anything Google holds, use the rights described in Google's own privacy policy, linked above.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, personalised ads are shown on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the app's settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
