Fia Privacy Policy
Fia is a period and cycle tracker built to keep your health information on your own device and, if you choose, in your own Google Drive. Fia has no server of its own: the developer never receives, stores, or can access your health records.
What Fia stores, and where
Everything you log — periods, daily entries, symptoms, notes, medications, reminders, and settings — is stored in the app's private storage on your device, protected by Android's app sandbox. Core tracking works fully offline. Fia does not contain a health-content analytics SDK or automatic crash-reporting SDK, and the developer does not receive your health records. The free version contains Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform; their limited data handling is described below.
Google sign-in (optional)
If you choose to back up with Google, Fia uses Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to sign you in. Fia receives only your basic Google profile — name, email address, and an account identifier — and uses it solely to label your backup destination and greet you in the app. Signing in never uploads your health records by itself, and you can use every core feature of Fia without signing in.
Google Drive backup (optional)
When backup is on, Fia encrypts your records on your device (AES-256-GCM) and stores the encrypted file in the hidden app-data area of your own Google Drive. Google hosts that file inside your account; the developer has no access to it.
- Without a backup password (the default), the backup can be restored on any device signed in to your Google account. Anyone with full access to your Google account could therefore restore and read it.
- With a backup password, only someone who knows the password can unlock the backup. Fia cannot recover a forgotten backup password.
You can also create encrypted backup files manually and save them wherever you choose; files you export or share are outside Fia's control.
Purchases
The optional Lifetime Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play. Fia never sees your payment details; it stores only a local record that the purchase exists.
Advertising in the free version
The free version may show contextual Google AdMob ads in Calendar, History, and More, and may offer an optional rewarded ad for a 24-hour color-theme pass. Ads are not shown during onboarding, on the app-lock screen, while logging, in reports or exports, in backup and data-management flows, in purchase screens, widgets, or notifications. Lifetime Pro removes all ad placements.
Fia never sends period dates, flow, symptoms, medication, notes, predictions, profile names, Google identity, email address, or other health-record content to Google Mobile Ads. Ad requests are not personalized by Fia, receive teen-restricted treatment with a PG content ceiling, and do not request Android's advertising-ID permission.
Google states that its Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share an IP address (which can indicate general location), app and ad interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers such as the app-set ID. Google uses this information for advertising, measurement, diagnostics, and fraud prevention. Data sent by the SDK is encrypted in transit. Where required, Google's User Messaging Platform asks for advertising privacy choices before Fia requests an ad. When Google requires an ongoing privacy-options entry point, it is available under More → Privacy & security → Advertising choices. Declining or withdrawing a choice does not affect local tracking; it may prevent ads or limit how Google serves them.
Notifications and reminders
Reminders are scheduled and shown locally on your device. Their wording is configurable, and the default wording does not reveal health information on the lock screen.
Delete your data and account
In the app: you can delete individual records or all local data under More → Manage local data; delete your Drive backup under More → Backup; or use Remove Google from Fia in the Backup screen, which deletes your backups and keys from Google Drive, revokes Fia's access to your Google account, deletes your Fia sign-in record, and signs you out. Uninstalling the app deletes all local records.
Without the app: you can delete Fia's hidden backup data at drive.google.com → Settings → Manage apps → Fia → Delete hidden app data, and revoke Fia's access at myaccount.google.com/connections. Because Fia keeps no server copy, there is nothing else to delete: removing the app and the Drive backup removes everything.
Retention
Local records remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Drive backups remain in your Google account until you delete them from the app or from Google Drive. The developer retains no server copy. Google controls retention of authentication, Drive, Play purchase, consent, and advertising-service data under its own policies.
Children
Fia is intended for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13.
Medical scope
Fia records and summarizes the information you enter. Estimates are ranges based on your own history; they are not medical advice, must not be used as contraception, and do not diagnose any condition.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
